The Anthem of the Angels

(music starts playing, Sephiroth and Cloud are back to back facing opposite directions)

Cloud: White walls surround us. No light will touch your face again

Sephiroth: (begins to walk the other way)

Cloud: Rain taps the window as we sleep among the dead. Days go on forever(turns around and watches him)
But I have not left your side. (walks over to Sephiroth)
We can chase the dark together (quickens pace and reaches him)
If you go, then so will I. (grabs Sephiroth's arm and looks down)

Chorus #1
Sephiroth: (turns around to face Cloud, still holding his arm)

Cloud: There is nothing left of you. (looks up at him) I can see it in your eyes. (reaches hand up to touch his cheek)

Sephiroth: (shrugs his head away from Cloud's hand and pulls his arm back)

Cloud: Sing the anthem of the angels, and say the last goodbye.
(moves to the center of the stage, kneels and looks to the ground sadly with his eyes closed)

Sephiroth: (on far side of stage) Cold light above us.
(looks up briefly and walks back to Cloud) Hope fills the heart and fades away.
(lifts Cloud's body and leans him against his chest) Skin light as winter as the sky returns to gray (touches his skin)
Days go on forever, but I have not left your side (rests his head on Cloud's shoulder)
We can chase the dark together. (grabs Cloud's hand and encloses it in his and rests it over Cloud's heart)
If you go then so will I. (holds Cloud's chin with his other hand)

Chorus #2
Sephiroth: (releases Cloud and lets him drop back to the floor on his knees) There is nothing left of you, (stares down at Cloud)
I can see it in your eyes (darkens his stare)
Sing the anthem of the angels and say the last goodbye (turns his back on Cloud)

Cloud: (on all fours and reaches out to Sephiroth) I keep holding onto you but I can't bring you back to life. (sad expression)
Sing the anthem of the angels (slowly lowers his arm) and say the last goodbye (lowers arm completely to the ground and lowers his head to the ground)

Sephiroth: You're dead alive....
You're dead alive...(picks up his sword and stares at it with a smirk)
You're dead alive...( holds his arms out and tilts head back)

Cloud: (during this, he stands, grabs the buster sword and advances slowly to Sephiroth)

Sephiroth: You're dead alive...(gets stabbed by Cloud in the back)

Cloud: There is nothing left of you, I can see it in your eyes (pulls sword away and Sephiroth falls to the ground)

Sephiroth: Sing the anthem of the angels and say the last goodbye (lowers head and shuts his eyes)

Cloud: (Walks the opposite direction) I keep holding onto you but I can't bring you back to life. (clutches his chest where his heart is and Sephiroth gets up and limps over to Cloud with sword in hand)

Cloud: Sing the anthem of the angels and say the last goodbye (sees Sephiroth and gets stabbed in the chest)

Sephiroth: Sing the anthem of the angels and say the last goodbye (Cloud grabs Sephiroth's blade and flings him to the side. Sephiroth collapses finally)

Cloud: Sing the anthem of the angels...(looks at his fallen hero and collapses as well. Lights darken)
